August 5th - 7th, 2011

Club Challenge

A series of “fun” dance competitions, held in your local night club or dance hall. For beginners, and those new to dancing to experience a dance “competition” in a familiar, non-threatening environment. First place winners from each club will represent their club at the Arizona Dance Classic Club Challenge Finals, held on Friday, August 5th, 2011 at the Arizona Dance Classic.

ELIGIBILITY

Dance instructors and employees of host club are not eligible.

All amateurs that have never competed in a UCWDC, WSDC, or any organized national level competition, or any association connected with either organization are eligible.

Winners of any local dance competition are not eligible.

RULES

Each couple shall consist of one male and one female.

Male partner is required to wear a country style hat and boots. Female partner should wear clothing consistent with C/W style or look and is required to wear boots.

No lifts or drops are allowed.

CONTEST

Each couple is required to perform 2 dances. Your choice of either Arizona 2-Step or Progressive 2-Step, and your choice of either West Coast or East Coast Swing.

You may dance in both 2-Steps and both swings, and the best score in each category will be used.

All dances will be at least 2 minutes but not more than 2 and a half minutes.

Winning couple will be determined by the highest combined score of both dances.

There will be at least 2 couples dancing in any given heat.

The dance music may be played 15 minutes before the start of the contests.

The Dance Committee of judges will resolve any and all disputes and their decision will be final.

Finals Rules (These are the rules for the Finals on Aug. 5th. Check with individual club for specific rules.)
